The Railsplitter Wanderers Volkssport Association is a recreational association dedicated to promoting physical fitness through participation in volkssporting (walking, biking, swimming, and skiing) events sanctioned by the American Volkssport Association (AVA). These events are free of charge and open to the public, although there is a nominal charge for those who choose to participate in AVA incentive programs.

Event Types

The following event types may be scheduled:

Walk Events - also known as volksmarches or volkwalks, are conducted on trails that are a minimum of 10km (about 6 miles) in length. Walkers can receive credit (see incentives programs) for walking a shorter portion of the trail in some cases. Participants follow trail markers and/or a map to navigate the trail. Water/rest stops are included along the way. Most walkers can complete a 10km trail in 2 to 3 hours, but there is no need to rush.

Year Round (YR) walks are operational up to 365 days a year.

Seasonal walks operate during a portion of the year.

Regular walks are scheduled for 1 or 2 days, usually on weekends.

Clubs may also schedule bike (volksbike), swim (volksswim), and ski (volksski) events.
